Hi boys and ɡirls of junior infants,
We hope you all had a lovely weekend and are ready for work again this morning. As you know it is
the month of May. May is a very important month and is also known as the ‘month of Mary’. You all
know Mary is Jesus’ mother. During this month we say prayers to Mary. We can see some great
work happening on IXL and let’s make sure that we continue to practise the activities on IXL. We are
doing up new work packs for you all this week and will be in contact with your parents when they
are ready to be collected.
Here are some new activities that you can do while you’re at home.
Note to parents: Please don’t feel under any pressure to complete the activities below as we are
fully aware it is a stressful time for everyone. It is not supposed to put anyone under pressure and is
more so a bank of activities to help keep your little ones busy.
1. Continue with the counting activities: count up to, and back from 10. Have someone at
home ask you questions like ‘what comes before 2 / what comes after 3 / what comes in
between 3 and 5. Write out the numbers 1 – 8 on small squares of paper and mix them up.
See how fast you can put them in order. Have someone at home take away two numbers
while you close your eyes and see can you fiɡure out what number is missinɡ.
2. Continue to take part in ‘PE with Joe Wicks’ on YouTube each day. You can catch it live at 9
am but don’t worry if you miss it at that time, they are uploaded onto YouTube so you can
do it at any time that you like.
3. Write sentences starting with the sentence starters below:
I went
I eat
I don’t like
I have
4. Practise writing your daily news and put a picture with it.
5. Ask someone at home to loɡ onto the website www.folensonline.ie where you can ask
someone at home to help you read the story ‘Look out Kitty’
6. Remember we talked about the story of a tree:
In winter the trees are bare and have no leaves on them.
In spring the leaves begin to grow back.
In summer you should see lots of green leaves on the trees and lots of flowers
growing too.
In autumn the leaves begin to change colour, remember they turn orange, brown,
red and yellow and they start to fall off the trees.
