Letter from Junior Infant teachers

Hi boys and ɡirls,

 

We hope you are all keeping well. We really miss you all and cannot wait to see you. We hope you are enjoying the sunshine but doing so safely J.

Here are some more activities that you can do while you’re at home. J

 

Note to parents: Please don’t feel under any pressure to complete the activities below as we are fully aware it is a stressful time for everyone. It is not supposed to put anyone under pressure and is more so a bank of activities to help keep your little ones busy.

 

 

  1. Draw a house and put all of the ‘oɡ’ family words in, for example: foɡ, loɡ. Draw a second house and put all of the ‘ɑp’ family words in, for example: tɑ

 

  1. Continue with the counting activities: count up to and back from 5. Then count up to 10. Have someone at home ask you questions like ‘what comes before 2 / what comes after 3. Write out the numbers 1 – 6 on small squares of paper and mix them up. See how fast you can put them in order. Have someone at home take away two numbers while you close your eyes and see can you fiɡure out what number is missinɡ.

 

  1. Watch RTE’s Home school Hub at 11 am each day.

 

  1. Continue to take part in ‘PE with Joe Wicks’ on YouTube each day. You can catch it live at 9 am but don’t worry if you miss it at that time, they are uploaded onto YouTube so you can do it at any time that you like.

 

  1. Practice readinɡ the sentences below to ɡo with the picture:

He has ɑ red collɑr.

I like the doɡ.

His name is Rex.

 

It is ɑ cat.

The cat sits on the mat.

She drinks milk.

I have a cat.

Her name is Pam.

 

If you like you can now try to write three of your own sentences about the pig below in your copybook. Try and remember how we learned how to draw a pig and you can draw your own one.

  1. Ask someone at home to loɡ onto the website folensonline.ie where you can ask someone at home to help you read the story ‘No Finn No!’

 

  1. See can you think of six things in your home that use electricity.

 

  1. Think of all the ways we use water in our home.
